Displaced New Orleanian currently residing in Austin, Texas.
I intend to return to New Orleans and open a cafe/coffeehouse called The Mad Hatter Coffee & Tea Co. by year's end.
Now is the right time for a business to position itself in New Orleans... and I can prove it.
I bring many years of coffeehouse ops management, specialty coffee industry knowledge, marketing, knowledge of New Orleans, have a loyal coffee clientele waiting on this new venture.
Most importantly, I have an innovative business model unmatched in the City of New Orleans at this time.
My principle (overall) goal is the cafe achieving local icon status (think Tipitina's), to foster a love affair between my coffeehouse and the New Orleans community... and yes I do believe I have the plan to do just that.

The Mad Hatter Coffee & Tea Co. is an innovative coffeehouse and lounge concept focused dually on exceptional quality and service that will feature the "Best Espresso, Coffee & Tea in New Orleans" (Guaranteed).
The Mad Hatter Coffee & Tea Co. will continue the traditions of "old-time" coffeehouses where writers, artists, and thinkers gather around tables to discuss and debate the important (and not so important) issues of the day over coffee and tea in a hip, bohemian atmosphere borrowing heavily from 1920s style and intentionally evocative of Old New Orleans... right down to the pressed-tin ceilings, dark-wood bar, molding and accents, deco fixtures, elegant but mismatched Parisian bistro furnishings and slowly-turning ceiling fans.
The Mad Hatter Coffee & Tea Co.'s "new old style," and relaxed, bohemian-bourgeois flavor (call it "bobo") is perfectly suited to New Orleans' a diverse, laid-back city with a famous laissez faire culture where, still today, leisure time (along with coffee and food) is one of the few things anyone takes too seriously.
The Mad Hatter, Inc., dba The Mad Hatter and The Mad Hatter Coffee & Tea Co., is a privately held corporation registered as a Limited Liability Company (LLC).
To date, I have invested approximately $11,700 in this venture (primarily towards development of concept, associated research and market research, as well as the careful cultivation of numerous strategic business alliances within the city of New Orleans).
The Mad Hatter Coffee & Tea Co. has finished its research stage and is in its start-up phase seeking investment in the form of private placements to $200,000.00 to begin operations in New Orleans on or before November 15, 2007.

FROM THE BUSINESS PLAN: Employed men and women or students of any age having an income of $27,000 per year and up, living and/or working in the Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans, who are educated, cultured, value their leisure time, and who frequent local cafés and coffeehouses as part of a daily routine, having an appreciation for the highest quality coffee beverages and consistently exceptional service.
TO BE MORE CONCISE: My ideal customers appreciate exceptional quality and service delivered in an environment both hip and stylish, with the perfect mix of bohemian and bourgeois... altogether well suited to New Orleans’ famous laissez faire culture. In other words, a comfortable and inviting establishment full of class, but not pretention (and certainly not that "cookie-cutter" nonsense that passes for "service" at the usual McCoffeehouses).
