About Me

Since the early 80’s, I’ve always strived to be that fly kid- in school, in church, on the block. Having an artistic background, I quickly developed an affinity for the Hip Hop culture, the music, the graffiti and the dress code. Coming from an era where urban clothing wasn’t readily accessible, when you found clothes they would be from a major clothing company, so you had to piece the outfits together and create a look. Urban clothing and streetwear were just non-existent. Being a youngin’ growing up in Central Jersey(Neptune, Asbury Park), my team, Kev Harris, Craig “CJ” Jackson and I would always take weekly shopping trips to downtown Newark and New York, to bring home the flyest wears and Hip Hop culture that the Newark and the 5 boroughs had to offer. When local crews would jack our style and swagger, we would do things to set us apart, like personalizing our Lee denim jackets and baseball caps with graffiti styles that I picked up from riding the trains in NY. With such and overwhelming response to these garments from the neighborhood, my buddies and I created a successful business. Simply put, we’ve been fresh for many years, and little did we know, we were helping to create a culture. Graduating high school, then attending and Art and Fashion Institute in Philadelphia, I connected with artists and designers that had the same goal-to make money doing what you love.

About My Company

In 1999, we developed a name that best suited us- how we lived, where we lived, what we represented,--“The Nu Jerooz Clothing Company”. Not just your average urban clothing line, but a luxury clothing company that caters to the discerning upscale urban lifestyle, featuring premium denim with attention to detail in every nuance of each garment . We we’ve had the clothing game on smash in NJ for some time before finally in 2004 we officially trademarked the company name. With CJ’s vision of Nu Jerooz being trademarked and our scope broadening to expand, we needed someone on our team to help develop the brand and take the company to the next level. Marketing guru and Brooklynite, Treyvon Spencer, was a perfect fit for the Nu Jerooz family, making certain that our product fell into the right hands.
