selling my small business

Hello,

I have a small musical instrument business.

I am at the point were I would like to sell the company. I can figure the value of inventory and equipment, but how would I put a value to our brand/name? we are known in the neighborhood and have a following.

Hi quasilint,

Much would depend on the revenues of the business and the tax statements. In your poposal to you buyer you should be able to say. You will pay yourself back within 2-3 years(or whatever # years you find suitable).

One method I heared others use is finding out a sales price of a business is through the service. http://www.valuationresources.com

How much are your revenues and net profit for last year?

We made about total 600,000

We made about total 600,000 and about 150,000 profit. So maybe we should ask for cost of equipment plus 300-400,000 ?
