Financials for Public and Private Companies

My partner and I are creating our business plan and want to have the most accurate financials of our industry.  Any advice on websites that have the most accurate financial information especially for private companies as well as public ones.  Currently I've been researching on Hoovers, Yahoo Financials, CNN Money, and similar sites.  Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Cal_95,

It is hard to find accurate numbers for private companies. Though Hoovers...etc is good(the free online version is very limited), you will find MUCH better resources at your local library. A library would have access to more advanced databases such as Mergent online, Standard & Poor's...etc and might have full access to resources such as Hoovers

For small business you can also use a book called
Risk Managment Association: Annual Statement Studies
this book would have the ratios for small businesses, though a little confusing at first it is good resource. You can buy some stuff from their web site or find it in the library

I would like to open my own

I would like to open my own doggie daycare business in massachusetts and have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any helpful hints for me?
